Elias
Chief Surveyor
Meet Elias, our colleague who sees opportunities for improvement around every corner and who believes that surveying is proffesion where the learning and development opportunities are endless.
Elias started to study at the Bachelor programme in land surveying at Högskolan Gävle after two years in the military. During the summer between his second and third year he got the chance to work a couple of months at Clinton. Elias says it was a great way to put his theoretical knowledge into practice since no internships were included in the programme. He was plannning to start working in his home town after graduation – but then Clinton came with an offer.
“I was so close signing for another job, when Clinton said they had an apartment for me in Stockholm. Many of my friends moved to Stockholm so the decision was easy. I thought - let’s work in Stockholm at Clinton for a year and then move back home. That was four years ago, and I don’t think I will move back anymore.”
Elias explains that he started working from the office with different projects, especially with monitoring and leveling. He thinks that it was a good way to try many things within the profession and find out what he liked the most. Since then, a lot has happened, as of today Elias is responsible for the surveying at an infrastructural project. Beyond that he contributes to the development and content of Clinton’s handbook for surveying and he also holds courses internally within grid surveying.
“I have always had an interest in writing, so I took the opportunity to update and further develop Clinton’s handbook of surveying. To be a part of developing our handbook and educating others in grid surveying is rewarding. I learn a lot and get to help others in their development as well.”
Grid surveying is the part of the profession that Elias likes the most and he has a lot of ideas of how he can develop the area firther within Clinton. He also has an ambition to keep working at big projects, even bigger than today. He believes that practicing and learning more about leadership will become key in achieving those ambitions.
“At Clinton there are clear expectations outlined for different roles, and everybody can affect their own development. The fact that the People Operations function has a big impact on the organization helps me, my colleagues and our managers. The support and the communication is really important, especially when working in the consulting business.”
Elias describes that Clinton has a supportive and inclusive culture, and that it's important to make you feel part of the team at Clinton, especially when you don’t work at the same construction site as your colleagues. We can’t agree more with him and are looking forward to our future development together!
